Hello, I am trying to tag doors in a drawing. What I want to see is the door size, so I turn on 'width' parameter, and turn visibility off on the border of the text. Change the size of the text to match, easy enough. Now I want to place the text along the open door in the floor plan view, but the tag always jumps to the center of the door frame. Can this be modified to do as I want? is there an alignment parameter I can alter? Perhaps tagging the  door family and aligning it in the family editor? Please advise if Revit is capable of doing this. Until then, I have to place the text for each individual door.

The insertion point of the tag automatically comes in at the insertion point of the door. So the center of the tag comes in at the center of the door.

You can specify the origin of the tag to be different - but consider: will this move be appropriate for the majority of the tags?

You will most likely have to move a few tags no matter what.

To change the origin - in the tag family select the middle reference planes and in the properties un-check Defines Origin. Make sure to place 2 new reference planes that Defines the origin - that the intersection of those planes is the point of origin.

You can set a tag to come in vertical from the options bar.  Then you could use the move control on the tag to adjust the tag more toward the panel, or you could alter the origin of the tag as Lisa suggests.  Attached is a Revit file with tags that display the height and width.  The tag also include a spot for left of right hinge that pulls infor from the "comments" instance parameter.
