Student Installation Revit 2014 has problem

A student purchased a new computer with Microsoft Windows 8.1 and for our class installed Revit 2014 Student version. When she opened Revit she noticed the QAT and Infocenter in the Titlebar were missing. She did get the Revit project and open view listed in the Titlebar area. She could turn on the QAT but it only appeared below the Ribbon bar not above and there was no method or setting to get it to appear above the Ribbon Bar. The InfoCenter or HELP buttons do not display at all. Has anyone had this experience or no anyone that has? The student has since installed all of the service packs for Revit 2014 release with no success. The laptop has an NVidia graphics card, eight GB's of Ram. She can set the video graphics to run off the motherboards native on-board chips, but this defeats the higher end graphics card with additional video ram on board or GPU processing. Any help or guidance to a solution would be welcome. Mel Persin, aia - adjunct instructor Oakton Community College - Skokie Campus mpersin@oakton.edu / melarch@comcast.net

Scott,

The information about the QAT was no help. This was not the question, nor
an applicable answer to my question. The question was a student installed
the student community Revit 2014 release on her new Acer computer. When she
opened Revit 2014 the QAT and the Communication Center Toolbars did not
display in the Titlebar area of the Revit application. When the QAT bar
displayed it would only display below, not above, the Ribbon bar.

When selecting the QAT pull-down menu the Show Above the Ribbon option is
not there to get it to display above the Ribbon.

The second part was that the communication bar, Exchange and HELP button
found in the upper right corner of the Titlebar does not display either and
we have not discovered a method to get it to display.

The screen captures are from my installation of Revit 2014.

The student has since installed all of the updates and service packs
available for Revit 2014 with no correction to the above issues.

You mentioned they were using an Nvidia card, what is the exact model for that card and what version of the driver do they have installed? Also, are they running Nvidia's "desktop manager" application in the background?
