the only time i have ever seen it in viewer mode is when it is on a trial version and the 30days has expired... I assume your seat is licensed? it is network or standalone?

I am a student so I down loaded it through autodesk I assume that this is not a trail version, it was downloaded as stand alone

Under the application menu (Big R in the upper left corner). In the menu there should be license information - then in the flyout of that there is your license information.

IF you can find it there - go to the upper right corner with the ? In a circle - to the right is a down arrow - go to the about. That will bring up your product info and on there there should be a button to get to your license info.
