Stacked Walls in Legends gives error message or serious error.

If you are trying to insert a stacked wall type in the Section View of a Legend and are getting an error that says "The component you have selected is not visible in the selected view" (you may even get a serious error warning), this means that the minimum specified height of your stacked wall is larger than the 3' default Host height of the Legend View. You will need to make the Host Height larger than the minimum dimension of your stacked wall.

Below are a couple ways to find the dimension:

1. Open your stacked wall type and edit the assembly. In the Assembly Window add up the specified heights and that is the minimum dimension.

2. Open the latest journal file (or the journal that corresponds to the Revit Session where you got the error), and look for the section around the "The component you have selected is not visible in the selected view" error. You should see a message saying something like "Wall is shorter than minimum height allowed by its type.  'It is 3' - 0" and must be at least 4' - 2"."

Once you know the minimum height, you can enter it in the Options Bar in the Legend and the wall type should place with no issue.
