Adaptive component will be perfect for that 😉

Do you know if there is any good tutorial that shows how to set it up in the family?

If this can not be done by  Edit Type settings , you cand do it manualy:

  • Click on roof...you will see in center of every slope smal sign with a cross inside into a rectangle -Configure Grid Layout ...click on it
  • Now you can select indicvidual curain grids...click on one of it....it is pinned...click on the pin symbol to unpin it...
  • Now you can move the grid in the desired position

The grid is in the desired position, I just need the windows to fit this pattern 🙂

Then Indead Adaptative points is suited:

  • Create New Family > Metric Curtain Panel Patern Based template
  • make a sweep for the frame and an extrude for the glass, all on the adaptative frame
  • save and load into your project
  • drag it from families (Properties) into your drawing and click one by one the for corners of the cell into wich you want to insert the new created window

When I try to make the family, I don't get the option to make a sweep or extrusion?

Message 9 of 16

Indeed yo haven't ...Revit "knows well what to do"

  • Put a Reference point on one of the Reference lines ...
  • Select that point....a reference plane will show (perpendicular on the Reference line)
  • Draw the profile of your  window frame on the perpendicular plane
  • select the profile you have drawn and with CTRL  pushed, select the chained reference lines
  • Create Form - Revit will know now that you want to make a sweep
  • For the extrusion you select a closed shape and > Create Form...Revit will make an extrusion

Thanks alot, but it comes out whit an odd shape when I try to place the points in the project. Its like the frame is inside out and I kan only choose 4 points, there is 5 in most of the windows.

Untitled1.png

As you can see the shape is flipped from what I have drawed.

The above is an image of the original window family - not the adoptive one 🙂

Adaptative points can be made not only wit 4 points...but you have to make it in slightly diferent manner (now you don;t use prefabricated style)

  • New Family > Metric Templates (for me is metric) > Conceptual Mass > Metric Adaptative Component
  • Draw >Reference> Point Element - Draw on the base plane 5 or how many points you want  in order (clockwise  or counterclockwise)
  • Select all the points you have drawn and from : Adaptative Component > Make Adaptive ...you" see a change ..each one will have a number
  • Conect the points in order with a chained  of Reference Lines
  • Now, the way is the same as in the previous post...we a have a pentagon or any other polygon.....

I made 5 points and loaded the family into the project, when I mark the 5 corners I get this shape.

Have you tried creating a Mass and then applying a Curtain System by Face?
