SketchUp to Revit

I'm a brand new user of Revit, so bare with me, but I'm trying to import a SketchUp model I can work with. I've followed the steps found on another discussion for importing as a massing element, but for some reason I have the main model plus a few other "planer" representations of the facade - copies of the facade that sit out in front of the model. They are all one element. How do I split these things apart so that I can delete the unnecessary copies and start working with the model.
Also, how do I start identifying masses as Revit components like walls, etc.?
Thanks.

Don't know about sketchup but in the Walls command there is a option to
apply wall to faces, it's next to the arrow button on your option bar and to
the left of the Height option. Also you just start drawing slabs/floors in
your mass.

No need for a plugin in Revit. R9 reads them OOTB.
Insert your SKP file in a massing family
