Shutter Box Family

Good Morning everybody,

i am currently drawing some windows. But i have problems with the shutters: I want them also as 3D Modell to show them in the summary (lenght, depth etc.).

Off corse it is possible to draw them 2D but this is not the right way for me.

Are there window lintel familiys or shutter boxes?

E.g. see this attached picture:

I do not have those type of families. Try searching the internet for "shutter box revit rfa" or similar.

Otherwise modify a window family and add some shutters. You can use a shared nested family with the right parameters for the shutters if you want to show it in a schedule.

Otherwise look for a shutter family and see if you can modify it to your requirements.

If you can not find them then create your own family. Depending on the level of detail and the amount of variables this does not have to be too difficult.

Check technical documentation from a manufacturer as basis of your design.

Hey,

i created a small family for a shutter box. But I habe some problems:

The shutter box has to be cut out of the wall? How i do that?

Also there is no categorie for carriers (main family)

I attached the creted family.

Depending how you want to further approach it. You have to start of with a template that is wall based.

This can be generic wall based family, door family or window family. The window or generic wall based family templates seems best suitable.

These templates have a wall as part of the template. Here you can cut out parts or create openings.

Note: The wall will not be loaded into the project but just functions as a place holder. When loading your family you hace to insert it in a wall of your project.

Open several window families of the libraries to see how they have been done.

No there is no category for carriers. But as they are most related to windows (or doors) I would place them in those categories.

Okay, great idea! I created now a windows based family and addes my shutter box.

But i have problems to define the hight of the box! I cannot delete the standard types in the family editer such as "hight".

Can someone check my file?

I attached it!

Yes, that is correct. Those are fixed by Revit. You can use them or ignore them.

In some cases when I do not need them I move them to the bottom of the category and fix the value to 0 to make clear that it is not used.
