Show Floor Opening in Demo

I have made a floor based generic model that contains only an opening to
represent new shaft openings. When I place in my model, its outline shows
on the new plan, but it does not show any dashed lines in my demo plan like
I thought it would. The view ranges are set the same and the floor category
is turned on in both views. A 3D view set to show "previous and demo" shows
the hole as red just like the other demo items.

Any ideas on how to show this?

Thanks,
Thomas

Why aren't you using the Opening tool in the Model tab of the Design bar. Reset your level view to Existing and Phase filter to All or Complete. Create a new floor plan view of this level and set its Phase to New Construction and Phase filter to All or Complete. Use the shaft tool or Floor Opening to cut a shaft in a floor in your project in a new construction phase. Then go to the Existing phase view and place an existing floor to patch the hole cut in the existing floor so it shows correctly in the existing view. Create another floor plan view and set it to be a new construction phase view with the Phase filter set to Existing & Demo to show a dash lined area around the hole in the floor.

I had tried the opening tool but it wasn't giving me the dashed lines
either. This is why I was trying a family - hoping it would automatically
demo the area the same way that doors do to walls.

However, thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.
Creating another floor in the hole and demolishing it gave me the results I
was after.

Thanks,
Thomas
