Hi,
We are currently setting up a large campus type project in Revit 2011 (Architecture) and have a number of files for each individual Building and then split by Structure, Envelope, Internal etc which all have Shared Co-ordinates back to a central Master Grid File. The Grids are also Copy Monitored between the Master Grid and the Building Models.
We now have a problem with one of the files Zone 1 Roof Model in that when we try and reference another of the individual models into it using "Auto - By Shared Coordinates" we get the following error message:-
Note: The File referred to in the error message is the Zone 2 Roof Model being linked in to the Zone 1 Host File.
What we are not sure of is what this message is actually saying!
The files were working perfectly fine until recently, and the only thing that we have done in the file is to enable worksets which we are doubting whether this could have caused the error.
Can anyone give us a hint as to the area we should be looking to fix this problem. The structure of these files is relatively complex and I don't want to go through changing lots of things to try and find the wrong problem.
For information, this happened when trying to Link The Roof of Zone 2 to this Zone 1 model.
We have tried re-creating the Zone 1 Roof File from the Master Zone 1 file which only has the Copy Monitored Grids and Levels in so we are suspecting that the problem has either happened to both files, or it happened to the Master before the Roof Model was created and has only now shown itself. This problem doesn't occur with the other Zone 1 Models (Envelope, Structure, Internal,etc...)
Thanks in advance
Typically you see this warning when coordinates have been acquired, and the Revit link location is physically moved. The dialog is saying that this coordinate monitored link instance was moved, but these changes have not been saved back to the actual link itself. If you click Save Now the new position will be saved to the link. If you click OK, you will be prompted to save the change the next time you save the project file.
You can reproduce this dialog with the following simple steps:
1. Start a new file, link in a Revit project file.
2. Manage > Coordinates > Acquire Coordinates, choose the link. Save the host project file.
3. Select the linked file, and move it to a new location. The warning dialog should appear because you are making changes to the monitored coordinates between the host and linked file by physically moving the link.
I hope this helps. If you choose “Save Now” you should not typically be prompted again.
Thank you,
For the benefit of anybody else reading this with the same problem, here is the solution that we eventually found, with the assistance of our friends at Excitech (UK).
The cause of the problem was at some point the Survey point had been moved off 0,0,0 ever so slightly
This must have been accidentally moved at some point.
The Solution:
Because we are publishing site coordinates back to this file, and the movement must have happened during that process, then that also needed fixing too, by referencing this file back to the Master Grid File and Re-publishing the coordinates again and saving.
Hope this helps you too.
Keldar67, the included information is much appreciated. Thank you,
