Shared file Access/Syncronising Issues

We have had some issues with our revit/computer function lately. I think it is server related but this is the latest one .... please help. 

Two of us have been working on a shared file, all has gone perfectly until yesterday afternoon. 

It said it was having trouble syncronising for both of us and could only save locally. 

This morning when we opened it this came up. 

 ´´Unable to write to `central file name´, it is read only or open by someone else´´

We tried saving a new central of the person who had done the most work saved to the current central file. 

Now one of us can syncronise but when the other tried to this comes up ... 

I have tried making simple changes on the server with editing folders etc to check that my access hasnt been minited for some reason but that is all fine. 

Any ideas ??

Now the file that was able to syncronise isnt allowed to make any changes or save changes because it says it is owned by my file but I am also not allowed to syncronise. help??
