Selecting Refernce Planes at Points (Family Editor)

Hi,

I am following a couple of adaptive family tutorials and have seen many times how once you have either a reference point or an adaptive point, that you can then set up geometry relative to that point by selecting either of its 3 reference planes. For some reason whenever I try and select the horizontal plane of a point Revit is selecting any one of the vertical planes. This is even though I am tabbing through and highlighting the XY plane of the point.

I have a point that is above my origin by a parametrically controlled dimesion at which I need to create a parametric circle horizontally.

There must be something I am missing... but in the screenshots and videos in the tutorials I have watched I can't see what I am doind differently

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Ian
