Ever since downloading the new Revit 2012 I seem to have difficulting selecting items. Often when I tab through pre-selections and find the correct element and then left click, it does not select the item pre-selected. Currenlty I seem to be completely unable to select a curtain wall panel. It either selects the entire curtain wall or in elevation, selects items beyond the curtain wall. I did download an update to my graphics card as I was having other display issues when I first loaded 2012. Any suggestions?

What graphics card and driver version do you have installed?
I would suggest disabling Hardware Acceleration to see if there is a difference in behavior. You can do so from the Application Menu (big R) > Options > Graphics tab.
Actually, I have the same problem - 2012 doesn't seem to highlight the item if your mouse is over it. It will instead "pre-select" other objects around it, which makes it difficult to know if you are going to be selecting the right thing... I have been into Options and I can see the colours and transparency for the selected, pre-selected, and alert items, but there is no way to turn the pre-selection off. I want that back to the 2011 way! Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Ok, problem fixed! I had already turned off the accelerator which is why i was confused... but i ended up restarting, and now its back to normal.
