Is there a way to save a drawing done in Revit 2015 as a PDF so I can email an assignment to my instructor?

If it's a drawing, just print it to pdf. You need to have a PDF printer installed.
I recommend bioPDF - it's free and quite fast.
If it's a 3d model you want, you can use Bentley View to create a 3d PDF - http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/Bentley+View/

There is not a printed version of the users guide. Our learning content is all online.
