Roof Seperation

Hi,

im from Germany and I use Revit 2015. I have a problem with modelling a roof (see my Screenshot)

I created two seperate roofes.

How is it possible to seperate or earse the roof under the roof? I tried to use the tool for roofs "combine" but it does not work. I still get this result.

Hey Patrick

This is a 2 step process, you need to do the following:

  1. Select the "Join Roof" tool from the Modify tab (select the edge of the smaller roof first, then the face of the bigger roof you want it to join to)
  2. On the Architecture tab, on the right hand side, select the tool for "Dormer" (Select the Big roof 1st then the small roof)

This will cut the shape of the smaller roof out the bigger roof.

There are cases where the bases of both roofs are not the same, and so the dormer tool does not work very well, so you can go to a roof plan view, and use the "Opening" tool and cut he opening from the big roof

Hope this helps 🙂

Perfect answer!

Thank you!!!

Again another question:

In revit it is usual to construct the whole building very detailed right?

So on which way is it possible to build the roof with its bars, insulation etc. ?

Thank you so much!

why not do the roof as a single piece?

threw this together really fast for you... take a look.

seems like it would work very well for you.

Thank you for your reply.

I already created the roof like in this video.

But now my problem is:

I want to know if it is necessery or helpfull to create the roof and its roof truss. (with wood rafters etc)

Now i only have "flat" roof tiles hoovering in the air 😛 🙂
