Roof Join

Everytime I try to join a room I get this error

"Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face" I did a search for join roofs and I can't find any posts so I must be doing something wrong. Any help?

Is it possible to send the file?

This error means that either the ridge or the eave is lower or higher than the roof you are trying to join it too. Make sure your roof you are trying to extend isnt partially off the main roof in some way.

I seem to have much the same problem trying to figure out how to join the two roofs with different ridge heights. I'm surprised this is such a 'seemingly' simple task yet one that a lot of people have trouble with.  Why don't the Revit people find a simple solution to this.  Or is it actually difficult to accomplish within the program ?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

This shot probably shows my problem better.
