RHINO to REVIT. Wont let me edit the file :(

Hello,

Im an Architecture student, and new to Revit. Been using it for less than 2 weeks. I want to import a RHINO file into REVIT to create a curtain wall. I saved it as a dwg file, then went to revit and created a new file as family and selected generic model. Then I INSERTED A CAD, but it wont let me edit the file 😞 I really need to create a curtain wall system on my file. What is it that im doing wrong.

Please help 🙂

Thanks,

Michelle .

Hi Michelle,

you can place a curtain wall system on a Rhino-Shape by using the option Curtain Wall by Face. The typical workflow would be however to export a SAT file from Rhino, as this will generate the cleanest geometry.

In Revit, choose In-Place Mass (Massing and Site Tab in Revit) and then Link CAD, chose your .sat file and finish the mass.

After this, you can place the curtain wall using the "Curtain System" in Revit (it's also possible with walls or roofs):

Hope this helps!
