RevitAPI

I want to know more about RevitAPI. Its purpose and how can I use it. The Revit Help does not have any information on RevitAPI; however, I did find the RevitAPI.chm but how do I get started?

The API has been developed primarily to allow external coordination with structural analysis software and Revit Structure.

At the moment the API is focused on allowing collaborative efforts with Revit as opposed to creating commands to do tasks. Not that it isn't possible, just not the focus. There isn't much support available unless you are part the Autodesk Developer Network (ADN).

We have a dedicated forum at AUGI (Revit API) where a few programming minded users are experimenting with ideas. They occasionally share their ideas and questions and might be able to help you out a bit? Not familiar with AUGI? www.augi.com you can browse the forums without joining a couple times then you need to join...it is free.

Your reply is helpful and very informative. Being a Revit user for a short time, I'm searching the "behind the scenes" workings of Revit, as LISP is to AutoCAD.

I'm an old Acad man myself. Played around Lisp and macros for years. Like
you I'm always looking to improve. I've tried attaching a video of what
I've
accomplished so far with Revit Structure using the API and VB Studio.net.
Can't seem to send with attachment.
The only place I was able to get any help was at Augi.
