yes you can and the performance improves tremendously in many ways..
and it will look just like windows 7 set to "best performance"..

The performance and design of the ribbon in Revit 2011 has improved
tremendously. Before you try to take on enabling the "classic" interface in
Revit 2010, you may want to wait approximately 1 month for Revit 2011 to be
released and try it for performance.

Scott- does the classic UI still work the same way
in case they decide the performance of the ribbon
is not what they are looking for?

Haven't tried the classic UI since the Revit 2009. Scott is right
performance of the Revit 2011 ribbon UI has been improved greatly.

cdv- it's fine that Scott thinks the new ribbon
performs well if he has used it- but the question
was about the classic UI.. so the fair question
to Scott would be: does he know if the classic
UI is there again as a backup in case someone
else doesn't think the ribbon performs as
well as the classic?

2011 information and discussion has been
opened by autodesk and there is no reason
for anyone to hide any information about it
if they know..

also you said: "Scott is right- performance of the
Revit 2011 ribbon UI has been improved greatly."-
implying that you have used 2011 and you know
about it.. so maybe you could also answer the
OPs question with their concern about the
classic UI.. is it there for 2011 or is it not?

The classic UI is dead it is time to get over it and move on. I have had no
problems with Revit's performance under the 2010 UI and have not had any
problems since using the 2011 version either.

So again as Scott stated, before you start trying to enable the classic UI
check out the enhancements and improvements of the this newer version before
passing judgment. For me there is no reason to even try the classic UI in
2011 but rather to spend my time on using the more important added features
and enhancements that will make the program even more productive in my
architectural practice.

I agree with Scott and CDV. I would never go back to the old UI. FYI the classic UI is still availiable.

Cheers

Thanks for your information PhillipM.

Found the solution for changing the UI state to 2009 mode or Classic mode in revit 2010

We can change the UI state by adding a debug.ini file in the \\program\ folder.

congratulations- you found the secret that
few people understand- other than people
who write books about revit- like the author of
Mastering Revit Architecture 2010 for one..

pandiraj-

you can run native revit in eye-candy mode
without taking a sever performace hit IF you
FIRST set windows to best performance and
THEN pick your eye-candy..

There are 3 authors for Mastering Revit Architecture 2010. 2 of which have
been part of the Revit team for many years. The third person has been a
Revit power user for many years.

Yes, thank you Phillip for giving a straight answer.

The main problem with the ribbon interface is the large jolly icons (I find them very patronising - sort of like Revit for a 3 year old) - although I could probably handle them better if they were arranged vertically instead of horizontally. Especially as they intrude so far into the drawing area and, yes, I do have a large wide-screen monitor. Edited by: TKHill on Apr 22, 2010 3:02 AM
