revit systems

it looks to me like revit systems has everything revit building has
with the addition of some mechanical and electrical elements and
families.. if this is the case what would be the point of having
revit building? anybody care to take a stab at this?

I didn't know there is Revit Systems.
I knew There is Revit building, Revit structure, Mechanical. etc.
and they all are designed to suit every discipline in the industry.
What Discipline does Revit System as a tool apply to?

revit systems is the discussion group right
next door to this one.. you can go in there
and read all about it- then come back
in here and tell me what you found..
because i don't know anything..

Revit Systems is the MEP version of Revit, which was released in April.
This is Version 1.0.

Revit Systems has many elements of Revit Building, but lacks some tools such
as the Curtain Wall tool.

I guess the question begs to be asked...or perhaps it has been
before....just how much is missing besides curtain wall? Could an architect
(or lowly technician) function with just Revit Systems? Or is Systems
missing enough to hamper creation of a full building model and full contract
drawing set?

i wonder what curtain wall tools you are talking about?
i built curtain walls with mullions as many ways as i
could think of and i didn't see anything different..
please be specific about: "lacks some tools such
as the Curtain Wall too."

I took a brief look at this and posted an article in my blog at www.revitoped.com In short the difference is no Site tools, save Pad and only the Structural walls for structure. That and barely any Revit Building content.

I can just see it now. Autodesk created Revit Systems to replace Revit building, Revit Structure, etc., so people will by Revit Systems when you need only Revit building for the price of all replaced Revits leaving no choice to consumers....Ghud, I hope I'm wrong on this!

revit building is for the architects and architectual drafters..
revit structure is for structural engineers and structural
drafters.. and revit systems is for mechanical and electrical
drafters and engineers.. just because some of them can
do some of what others can do is no reason to be confused..
imagine there is no confusion.. it's easy if you try.. i hope
someday you'll join us.. i wonder if you can?

It's easy to be confused when a KIA only drives 50 mph and someone claims to be able to drive that thing and go 150 mph.
I don't know...Maybe I'll join you one day, maybe not.. who knows.
