Revit Server problems with large files

Revit Server problems with large files

We have setup server between offices and it works great for small files, but when I am trying to save large files I get the error "The Revit server you are trying to access is not
available due to a server or network failure. If you
have models from the Revit server open, save any
changes locally and contact your administrator.

Also if we try to lock the folder it says cannot lock folders.
not sure what the couse of this is.

qwote: "and to reset the worksets"

of course, otherwise you aren't able to save to the revit server.

Yes, after all we have tryed, this was the solution, detach from central, discard worksets, enable worksharing again, and the save went well..!!

Anyone have a way to capture the workset that all of the elements were on prior to discarding them? Reassigning all of the elements to the correct workset once a new version of the model is up and running would be a nightmare

I think, the only way to do this, is making a script, running a loop over all your elements and write a textfile with element ID and current workset.

Then discard all worksets, make new worksets,  and run a script that opens your textfile, and reassign the elements (by ID) to the correct workset.

You need programming skills to do this.....

I can't think off an other way to do this......

Today, another problem with the same solution:

problem:

3 persons were working on a local file, the centralfile on the revit server.

1 person had error messages while synchronizing, the messages stopped the synchronization progress.

We tried to make a new local file for this person, even on an other machine (with the same username), but error messages prevented this.

Making a new local file for another username was not a problem, only for this username.

Solution:

Discarding the worksets, reset worksets and a new save to the Revit Server

Make new local files (for al persons) en problem solved.

We can do this, because every discipline has his own model on the Revit Server, these models are combined by model linking.

By this way, the worksets are less important comparing to working together all in the same model.

By placing all models on the Revit Server are we 'live liked', no need to 'WeTransfer' files, just reload links when needed.
