Revit Quary

Hi All

I have some questions to be ask to all of you.

(1) Is revti is a replecement of ADT or It is a complementry? and why?

(2) There is something called AEC Polygon in ADT. it counts the area in 2D
forms of drawing. can be done same thing in revit in drafting. and can we
do the 2D detailed drawings like autocad.

(3) Is there any way to edit the impoterd file of autocad in to revit
building.

(4) Can we export any filles of rvt. format into autocad dwg format.

(5) Any 3D format of revit can be exported to into autocad and 3DS Max
format. and vice-versa.

IMO

1. It's not a replacement to ADT. Having said that it's by no means
complementary. It's a different toold. You choose to work in ADT or RVT.
However, everything seems to be geared towards to make RVT ADSK response to
BIM.

2. You can count area (net, gross), volume, no. of rooms, what they are. You
can tag the room space and instruct RVT what to count. This means you can/
will be able to produce finish scehdules from each room.

3. I think so... never needed.

4. Yes

5. I leave this answer to others. Again never needed to do so.

"(1) Is revti is a replecement of ADT or It is a complementry? and why?"
yes. but i agree with previous poster as well - it is NOT anything like
ADT - you work completely different, and this is good! on projects we use
either or both depending on the staff.

"(2) There is something called AEC Polygon in ADT. it counts the area in 2D

Rooms have area and volume and are "associative" to the walls around them -
kinda like spaces in ACA 2008 but better

"(3) Is there any way to edit the impoterd file of autocad in to revit
building."
edit? no. control display and later visibility? yes. use AutoCAD to edit
dwg files.

"(4) Can we export any filles of rvt. format into autocad dwg format."
Yes. works great!

"(5) Any 3D format of revit can be exported to into autocad and 3DS Max
format. and vice-versa."
Yes. works great!

I don't know about working great. There are some things that don't always
export correctly. For example, arrow heads, text, hatches...there might be
more but it's by no means perfect, but it does work.

ok. i guess we have no use to export these items and use the in AutoCAD or
ACA/ADT - just the building geometry and grids. if that stuff is in revit
already the final output will be from revit, not cad.

it depends on what you need the dwg for and how you plan to use it.
