revit light issue

why is the light reflection look like that? how do i make the light spread without seeing its contour on the floor?

I suspect the materials in the scene are very reflective. Try adjusting glossiness in the metal wall and floor materials.

i tried what you suggested. the light beam still is reflecting sharply on the floor/walls as you can see instead of just lighting the room

  1. if you render in Revit (and you use Mentalray) then try: Rendering >Settings> Custom -Edit and make changes especially on Indirect Illumination Options

Increase the level of precision...

Mental Ray calculates Indirect Ilumiantion using Final Gathering ( in 3D max the settings are more detailed then in Revit) - setting the indirect light that comes from the light that bounces on wall/floor surfaces to higher steps increase quality.....so the light -shadow border will be softer....

 

2. if you render in cloud (Autodesk 360) then increase the resolution.....
