Revit / Building Systems compatibility

The company I work for has just purchased ABS2006 and intends to work on a project with an architect that uses Revit. Has any one done a project using the two programs? Were you happy with the results? I see on the Autodesk website that Revit and Building Systems are supposed to be compatible.

7. What about object compatibility between Autodesk Revit Building and Autodesk Architectural Desktop and Autodesk Building Systems?

Autodesk Revit Building can read and write ACIS® solids. This gives users a way to export their models from Autodesk® Architectural Desktop and Autodesk® Building Systems software and import or link 3D information into Revit Building. You can cut sections and perform visual interference detections with this method.

You can export from revit to dwg(solid or poly) and import from ADT/ABS(dwg). So the data can be shared, but it is "dumb" data.

Not completely dumb because ABS ACIS solids will do interference checking in
Revit...

But most of the items used in ABS are not ACIS. They are multi-view blocks
and AEC objects. These items can be brought in to Revit, but do not
maintain their true shape (cones look like boxes), and do not really exhibit
massing (don't shade or hide). I think the word "Interporability" is used
very losely in context.

Actually, if you export your ABS items as solids (which you can pretty
easily do) and then import then into Revit (which again is easy) and
then place them into the building model as a Mechanical Family or
something, you'll get a 3D version of the HVAC system that will appear
in sections, elevations, plans, ceiling plans, and can be used for
collision detection.

It's true that you can't schedule these items, and they won't retain any
of their intelligence that they had in ABS, but you can actually do a
(very small) amount of 'interoperability' between the two programs. Not
by any means the idea that everyone wants, but with a Revit Systems in
the future, there's some very interesting possibilities in the future
that wouldn't be possible with just ABS + Revit or ABS + ADT...
