revit architecture 2013 filled region transparency

have a grey filled region hatch set to be transparent. this file started as a 2012 and was resaved as 2013 when we upgraded. the grey region in 2012 would bring to front and cover with transparency, but will not in 2013. when i create a new transparent filled region in 2013 over my deails, it works fine. untill i deactivate / switch views. when i go back to the veiw, it is only partially greyed out....

any ideas? see attached images (the grey should be over the entire cut region)

p.s. it prints correctly but does not display on screen correctly

There is a parallel post in the Revit Structure forum: revit mask region not masking

that is an unrelated topic. that is talking about component transparency, im talking about filled region transparency not displaying correctly when "bring to front" command is used

thanks though

Sorry, I linked it to the wrong thread - I corrected the link in the previous post.

There seems to be problems with region display in projects upgraded from 2012 to 2013.

There is also a possibility that it is a graphics card/driver issue--Under Options>Graphics, try changing Hardware Acceleration to on/off to see if it makes any difference. Also check compatibility of your graphics card/driver version--it may need to be updated, or in some cases it is too new, and may actually need to be rolled back to an earlier version.

must be something with my graphics card...

"

The installed video card 'NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430' has not been tested with Revit.
You may continue to use Hardware Acceleration.
If you experience graphics display issues, you should:
- Turn off Hardware Acceleration"

i had it off already becasue all of the glass in my model would shop up ghosted in the 3D view it i had acceleration on. but i switched it on and restarted anyway to see if the detail region was solved and it was not.

i guess i should look up an update or backdate (if thats a term) for my graphics card

I had trouble with this issue on 2 separate machines. As a matter of fact, this very issue prompted me to build a new machine. I bought a graphics card and driver right off of the autodesk list.

...long story short, it may be graphics card related, but if so it is not just one card or one chipset.

Also I posted on the structural site that this is happening for me on 2012 upgraded to 2013 projects. My templates were built on 2012 as well so that's going to be a big problem going forward.

I should also add that my filled regions are not printing or being displayed properly.

This is happening with newly created opaque filled regions, newly created masking regions, upgraded detail components with masking or filled regions. Also it is the same on all types of views - drafting, floor plan, section, etc.

This issue has been logged with our developers, and is currently scheduled to be addressed in the first Revit update.

This solution in Autodesk-Revit-Structure forum works for me. I want to link here for those who are not following both forum threads about what seems to be the same issue.

All of my problems seem to be resolved by switching from discipline: structural to discipline: coordination.

Any idea when this update will be out?  We have a project that we've upgraded and need to address this issue.

As for a workaround if no-one has thought about it.

Make your filled region a sometihng other than solid.  Then override graphics in view and set to solid.

It sucks, but that's all you can do for now I guess.

Update Release 1 is now available. To access the update, go to the following link, select your product, click Data & Downloads, and then click Updates:

I'm still having this issue after installing Update 1. The masking/filled regions seem to be showing appropriately in my model, but as soon as I link them into another model, they become transparent. This is an issue because we have all disciplines in-house. Our MEP team shows the lighting fixtures in their model and the architecture team links it in. The architects need the fixtures to mask out any ceiling patterns they're using. This worked great in 2012, but it's not happening in 2013. I really don't want to have to rebuild all of my lighting fixtures. Any suggestions?

As of Update Release 2 this is still broken. Switching hardware acceleration on/off didn't help. Uninstalling, and reinstalling Revit 2013 didn't help.

Please watch my video demonstrating the differences between Revit 2012 and 2013 (in case anyone is wondering what we're going on about):
