Dear Revit users
I am the IT-specialist in our company. The employees here are using Revit Architecture 2012.
I by myself do not use this software.
An employee mentioned the following problem:
All of a sudden the toolbox on top disappears and is only reappearing when we restart Revit.
Please find attached a screenshot.
I thank you very much for your help.
Steve
It may be something with your graphics card - (just an FYI - that is the Ribbon. Correct termonology is important - this is not a dig or anything just trying to help...)
I have not experienced this but that is the first thing that comes to mind...
Hopefully you will get other responses..

Hey,
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, and while I'm not positive this is a solution, just maximizing and "windowing" Revit seemed to also reset the ribbon (yea, terminology is essential).
Double click the glass looking top border (what's that called??) and it might solve this easer than restarting.
hope that helps, let us know if you come across a real permanent solution.
Thank you folks for the answers and the help with the termonolog. In fact this is important and I don't get this as a dig or so.
Really great comunity I have to say. I also got a personal mail from Orsolya Balazs (employee of Autodesk Inc.).
We found out that the video card which is missbehaving is not certified or rather certified but not working with all functions.
It may be the same problem with the bar - sorry - the ribbon. 😉
We will dig into this again - also try to reset the UIState.dat file.
As soon as I get something, I'll let you know.
Steve
Dear Steve,
thank you for sharing your experiences. Hopefully the source of the issue is cleared
Let me add in this forum as well two links that may help for other users as well who are faceing similar issues.
1. A link about the test results of the video cards that Autodesk has tested: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/cert/details?siteID=123112&catID=16303594&id=16391880&product=3...
Based on this information you can check if you use a certified video card with the appropriate driver for Revit.
2. A link about the technote that contains a short guide about how you can reset the ribbon panel to the default settings:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=16825244&linkID=9243099
ps- Agree; great community Thank you for all the comments.
Kind regards,
Steve,
Can I ask which video card you are using? I am having the same issue with a user using a NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 card. The card is recommended and certified, Revit doesn't report any issues with the graphics. I am curious what you are running and if you ever got things resolved.
Thanks,
Dave
