Revit 8.1

How is Revit 8.1 a new release that requires current users of Revit 8.0 to pay for it?

If it is a new release and worth purchasing, why is it not it called Revit 9?

Are the multitudes of bugs in revit 8.0 going to be addressed?

All Revit licenses are on subscription. You get 8.1 as part of your
subscription.

Because it's an alignment release to allow some more coordination features
between Building and Structures. There are new features, as there always
has been in "point" releases. Revit 9 will have many, many new features
compared to this.

Are these truely "bugs" or just things you have problems with? As far as I
know, Revit has very few bugs.

So where is the point release upgrade download link for current users of 8.0? This would seem to be the quickest and easiest method to distribute the update to current 8.0 users.

Multitude may have been to strong of a word, however, one very annoying bug is the frequency which Revit crashes when I switch between views.

Best forum to post questions and get the answers promptly is
http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93. It is monitored around the
clock by members and also Revit developers. 8.1 release was announced there
days ago.

The point release is available at revit.autodesk.com.

Have you checked your graphics settings? That seems to be the biggest cause
of crashes. I can say that I have NEVER had a crash switching between
views, so it seems you have some conflicts with Revit and your graphics
card, which may be resolved with different drivers.
