Revit 2015 Family Template File location

Anybody know where the family template files are located now?   I have no template folders or "Libraries" Folder in the following location C:\Program Data\Autodesk\RVT 2015\.

I am not sure if I need to reinstall Revit or look in a different spot.

Thanks!

Settings that get used for 1st launch -> C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2015\UserDataCache\Revit.ini

Settings for each user that have already lauched the software. backup/rename the file to have it re-create itself on next launch -> C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2015\Revit.ini

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear enough before.

I NEED the template file...not the directions on how to point to it.  The problem is no matter what I try I am not getting those files to come down in the install.  I have NO templates at all.

DT,

Gotcha!

Not being familiar with any installer besides the Educ Master USB installer, create a single deployment for Revit and test on another system to see if anything shows up in CC:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2015\Templates or C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2015\Family Templates\English_I\

UAC Off, Right-click > Run as Admin  when launching the installer ... just some of the things that come to mind.

The Revit 2015 install never did put in the family content and the templates. The guys at Autodesk had to hook me up with an ftp site and I put the content on a removable hard drive so now I can put the content in a half-a$$ed backwards way, but at least it works.

Hello all,

I too have this problem. I've read every single reply on this topic here and I still can't seem to figure out what's going wrong.

I have installed the student trial version of Revit 2015 alongside the Content Libraries. During the installation process I clicked everything I thought I needed (US imperial, metric plus Netherlands). When opening Revit the known error of 'The path you have specified for the default family template files is invalid' (see image 1). So, reading this forum I've done everything possible to solve this, uninstalling Content Libraries, uninstalling Revit and choosing the content again and again. Nothing has worked for me. I still do not possess the folders 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2015\Templates', even when setting my folder setting to 'show hidden files and folders' (see image 2). So in short, no families or libraries for Revit.

Can anyone please help me out? I've read that there is some sort of external download where I can simply put the content in the folders myself. Anyone that knows more of this?

Regards,

Tansu

Go through the steps detailed in this link. When you are downloading the
libraries let it run , it takes ages. I would even suggest leaving it
overnight. My broadband speed is pretty good and it still took forever.

Can I ask why the Setup file hasn't been fixed in the download?  I've wasted 3 days trying to find this.

Hi there 🙂

I tried this but still when I click on "load family" the folder didn't appear. Can't find this folder even if I choose "us-metric" library.....

Could you help me on that please?

(thanks a lot!)

I think ur trying many ways to find out ur templates. u can just copy ur old version C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RME 2014 or 14 to just paste and replace ur current revit version. its work smoothly

First item to check, do you in fact have data in your Families, Templetes/Etc folders?

I don't..  It was never installed with the installer.

Personally I gave up some months ago as I needed to get an image up and running for the school year.

Kept with the old version.

It would be nice if installers were tested before being released.  It would be nice if a new installer could just be released to fix problems that have been going on for months too.

It's a sad reality but with every release we have become used to keeping the previous version of inventor and revit on the image as well as the current version just in case the new version doesn't work.

i've installed and reinstalled Autodesk Revit 2015 like 3 times now and it gives me the same issue, i install revit, all just fine, now, when it comes the time to install the content libraries which requires like 50+ GB of space in C: (can't change the drive, don't know why) don't have that amount of space in C: so i do a picky install, i only mark US Metric, and the default content like IES libraries, Families libraries, templates libraries,i leave as they r with the deafault install address, when i check back when revit is open, and  i try to use windows families, or doors or area tags, tells me that there is no families loaded and if want to sat a path to load some, that should be correct, right?, i uninstall and reinstall again and choose other address for previously mentioned contetnt to be installed and again, same issue, i look in the previously specified folders and the only one with actual content is the IES , so there's clearly and big issue with this program, btw, i install the program from the Autodesk Building Premium Suite.

First I was suprised, that I have to load manually all family files (like doors and windows etc) I thought it will do it automatically. So when I started loading them, I did not found any.

Only thing that worked was to go Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and hit uninstall/change. After that add/remove features.

Well it started updating something. It took a lot of time. I already thought it was crashed, but finally loaded.

Now the content is where it should be.

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RLT 2015

I have to say, I'm little bit disappointed, that there was so much trouble. (first I uninstalled-installed it like 3x trough Web installer)
