REVIT 2013 crashing when editing floors

My REVIT 2013 is crashing my PC when I click on 'Finish' after editing a floor. Whilst the file is only 38MB I have the horrible feeling that these fatal error happenings may be due to a system shortfall on my machine rather than a software malfunction.

I have a Pentium 4 MicroATX M/B 3.0Ghz CPU with 4GB RAM, running on Windows 7 Professional (64bit).

Am I pushing my luck with this machine??? Should I be organising a new one pronto???

Thanks

Julie

Sorry I was reading the wrong info, my PC is a P4 Dual Core 2.6Ghz etc.... And my graphics card is a HIS Radeon HD5670 ICEQ Graphics Card.......

We have found that sometimes when you make more than 100 changes using the editor tool it could cause a crash.

If that is the case, our developers are already working on a fix.

Can you upload your journal file (showing the crash)?

I would be happy to check and see if that is the case.

Fernanda,

Is there any update as to when this patch will become available?

Thanks in advance,

Kale

How can you release the latest software that people pay for via subscription when anymore than 100 edits in any editing mode causes a crash without any options to save your work. As a longtime Revit/Autocad user and stong advocate of Autodesk's solutions I am extremely frustrated losing valuable time on project deadlines and feel ripped off!

What is the suggestion, count everyline and close sketch at 99?

We've had the same problem in our file.  There's 110 sketch lines to make up our floor boundary.  It indicates there's a fatal error and offers to save a recovery file, but doesn't actually create the recovery file.

I'm having the same issue.  I didn't bother to count every line in the floor boundary, but after the fatal error, when the recovery file option is selected, nothing is created.

Fernanda Firman: is this by any chance also an issue with Revit Structure 2012? I am consistently having RS2012 lock up every time I try to edit a floor boundary where we have a large opening in the elevated floor for an atrium. My concrete cantilever from beam centerline to edge angle wasn't displaying correctly, but I can't delete the inside floor boundary and redraw it without it crashing, or do much of anything else without it crashing. Any ideas? This thread is the only reference to any version of revit crashing while editing floors that I've come across anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately the issue is not limited to Revit Architecture.

The good news is the issue is been fixed in the new update UR1 for Revit 2013 that is about to be released.

That's good to know since we have 2 projects where the architect is using 2013. But like I said, this is in 2012, although the issue seems to be similar. Unfortunately, Revit continues to not allow back-saving to an older format like autocad did, so we can not upgrade to 2013 for the majority of our projects where the architect and MEP are both using 2012. Meanwhile, I've spent a couple days on this, and we need to release these drawings, so I'll just give up on it being modeled correctly and have the detailers cover up all the slab edges with linework in the sections. Thanks.

I found a suggestion to model the floor in pieces (in our case 2 halves) was helpful in preventing the crashes.

There was an update release posted on Friday that should help with these errors.

Guys, I have done some stress testing on the new service pack that came out over the weekend. Luke Johnson from the blog What Revit Wants posted up my findings yesterday. Here is a link: http://whatrevitwants.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/update-1-may-cause-contextual-finish.html

Hi,

I am using Revit 2018, and each time I edit the floor, it crashes. Please help, it crashes 10 times in an hour.

Thanks,

@leila.k.pmp

Please update Revit 2018 to the latest Hotfix.

You say 2013 and 2018. If 2013 there is a service pack or hot fix that should solve this issue.
