Revit 2013 - Can More RAM be Allocated?

I was recently provided an upgraded workstations, among other things featuring 32gb of ram. Although the new machine dramatically increased rendering power, Revit doesn't run noticeably faster and only makes use of 4gb max of memory, the same as the previous machine with 16gb total RAM. Is there any way of allocating more RAM and/or processor power to revit? A fair bit of searching didn't reveal anything.

Thanks

I am assuming you are using a 64 bit operating system. If so then the amount of memory that is used is more dependant on the size of the model and not limited to four gigabits. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15385625&linkID=9243099#section6

So to confirm there is no way of improving Revit's sluggish performance on a computer that should be more than up to the task?

Not sure what your machine specs are, but a number of things can be done to increase the speed of a machine. ie.,  processor speed, number of cores (especially if running multiple programs at the same time), solid state hard drives (they increase the speed of accessing programs), increased memory (sounds like you already have). 64 bit os (allows the use of more memory and better memory management than 32 bit os), etc, just to name a few.
