When I import FBX into 3D Max, a folder (myfilename.fbm) is generated with all the materials mapping that are used in the Revit model.
My question is are those materials mapping files are zipped into the FBX file that the mapping images folder is generated solely from the information in the FBX? Or only the path information of the mapping images are stored in the FBX that 3D Max compile all the image files into a folder when the FBX is imported.
Maybe the simpler question is.. will I get the same folder if I import the FBX in another computer/network?
Thanks for advice!
The geometry, lighting, camera and material information is packaged in the FBX file when exported from Revit Architecture.
When you open this file, as you mentioned, 3DS Max extracts the information into an .fbm folder if any assets have been embedded into the FBX file. This results should be consistent regardless of where the FBX file is imported.
