Revision Management - Color Coding

We are using Revit Architecture and Revit Structure with linked files and copy/monitor to co-ordinate the two disciplines. Our MEP consultant is using ABS so we export 3D views to dwg for them to use to check their services routing.

If we make a change to the architectural wall, how do we assign a different colour to it so that the MEP team can spot the change easily ?

For example in revision 1 of our Revit Model, a wall is placed on grid line A. Later on we move the wall by 500mm off the grid line. We will issue a revised dwg to the MEP team. We would like to easily identify the changes in the 3D model by changing the colour of the wall that was moved.

We think we will need to create a different workset, assign a unique color to it when we are exporting from Revit but we are not sure if this is the most efficient way.

Does anyone know of a system for managing changes between different versions of models exported to dwg ?

Thanks

The only reliable method for this is to use a revision cloud, then export, and remove the cloud. Otherwise, you would have to place changed walls on a special workset, and create a filter that changed the color of the lines for those walls, and allow overrides when you export. This places more responsibility on every user, requiring greater self-discipline. The revision clouds are quicker/easier.

I used filter to apply color change to objects that are revised. When you export this as dwg, you get changed color code in dwg so that you can spot difference easliy.

Rahul,

How did you set up your filters? We have not been able to figure out how to filter the objects changed since a given date.

1. Create a new filter called "Revised Objects"; select all categories; and
then select More parameters in the "Filter rules" section and add a project
parameters or type text that applies to all categories.
2. Apply this filter in VG. Change colors etc.
3. Whenever an object is moved, go to its properties and enter the revision
date (20070801). The filter is setup to equal this text string. and the
objects shows in different color.
4. When the next revision comes, we just edit the filter to equal a
different string (20070814)

If anyone uses a better system, please share
