random object on screen

A random object looking like a minimized tool bar has appeared on my screen when starting up this morning. Can't close it. Can't move it. Re started Revit and still there. Nothing like that is happening on any of my other apps.

it's called an "artifact"..

usually you just click it away..
artifacts that stay around are
rare..

maybe it likes you..

it kind of looks like part of that
first version of the ribbon..

or maybe you don't know how
to keep revit and your system
clean.. maybe you like importing
all kinds of crap into revit- like
DWGs and stuff- who knows..
64 bit computer systems have
a mind of their own- it's not like
the 32 bit toy computers we used
to know..

I tried right clicking it, which gave me the options of move or hide. I hid that sucker. Re started Revit and it's back.

System clean? I have up to date anti virus and run a full scan daily.

I use 32 bit. With trusty old XP.

I import dwg files, but hey, Revit wouldn't have that on the tool bar if it wasn't ok now would they? The artifact is there anyway even when there is no project open. I haven't had AutoCAD for some years so can't "clean" dwg files that other consultants send me readily.

this turned out to be the result of a failing hard drive. Though not the one with Revit or my OS on.
