what a mess huh?

try the native UI- you won't have
any problems like that..

This IS native UI!)

there is no opportunity to minimize this pallets.

If you have a solution, plese, explain in more detail.

no it's not native UI.. it is a program running
on top of the native UI.. that's why it takes
so long to load and why all the commands
run so slow..

the native UI loads instantly and works
perfectly.. the ribbon program has to
translate every command from the
native UI.. the switch to load the ribbon
is set to "on" by default- so you just turn
it off and not load the ribbon if you want
an easy and fast way to use revit..

the ribbon wouldn't be so bad loading and
running slow if it made any sense for revit-
but it doesn't.. and it doesn't because you
can't GET to the commands quickly and
effortlessly like you can with the native UI..

this may not fit with the vision autodesk has
for all the products it sells- but it fits with
the truth about revit..

Please, explain me, How can I switch UI ? I can`t find this option in the "OPTIONS" menu at the user interface tab.
The other computers with such cofiguration: Win7 64 bit dose not have this problem.

Knyazeva,

Switching the UI to the "classic" UI invoves making changes to the Revit.ini
file. (The "Classic" UI is what it being referred to here as "native".
Classic UI was the interface used prior to the 2010 release of Revit) You
can find info about using the Classic UI here:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13126336&linkID=9243099

Now, with that being said, that's not the answer to the problem you are
having, so I don't recommend you go that route. Your issue is that the
Browser and Properties Palette are expanding to full screen when you open
Revit. You should be able to move and resize these windows by stretching
the edges inwards to make them smaller. Your screen capture didn't quite
get the whole Revit window, so I'm not sure what is happening at the edges.
Clicking on the title bar at the top of Properties or the Browser should
allow you to move them to the left so you can see the right edge. then you
should be able to resize this window. Revit will remember size and position
for the next seesion.

If you cannot resize these windows, you need to file a support request right
away.

Knyazeva-

Scott is correct that the ribbon itself does
not cause any problems.. and it especially
does not cause any problems for 2011..

Scott-

i said switch to the native UI and you won't
have that problem- but that is misleading..
truth is the ribbon never caused problems
like that for 2010- much less for 2011..

and you said the classic UI was the interface
used prior to 2010- but the original classic UI
is still widely used today- and it is still the
foundation that the ribbon now runs on..

and stating that you have to make changes to
the ini file is also misleading.. because all you
do is place the debug as a configuration setting
like any other configuration setting- like:
Use2009UI=1
or
Architectural=1
Maximized=1
TooltipAssistance=1
Antialiasing=1

here is what "debug" means:
"In conjunction with computer software, debug
means to detect, find, and remove."

and that is exactly what you are doing with
"debug" in the revit program file as a configuration
setting- finding the ribbon program and turning it
off and stopping it from loading so you can
use the native or classic UI..

i support autodesk but they have a bad
reputation and many people don't like
autodesk because of the manipulation
and misleading of people they do so much-
and everyone can sense this.. otherwise
Bentley Architecture would not be as
successful as they are right now..

same thing happened when microsoft
abused its customers with false propaganda-
it led to a growth in the old unix based
operating systems- namely linux..

now microsoft has wised-up and gotten
most of their customers back by being
honest.. that is what REALLY attracts
and holds customers..

but you can't tell managers what they are
doing when they are doing this kind of thing..
they have to end up getting replaced while never
knowing why- and denying anything about it..

i am now 100% convinced that the best solution
for all parties and the future of revit is to maintain
both the classic and the ribbon interfaces..
which is basically the way it is now and was
for 2010- but just offer care and support for
everyone- at least in spirit.. then everyone
will love autodesk..

i tend to doubt "options" is the best place for that
switch- and i really don't know where it should be-
but we are hoping it gets better located with the
next update or version release.. for now it is a
configuration setting in the revit program folder..

or maybe "options" is a good place for it- i
have not thought much about that..

Thanks, I complied with all recommendations, but the old problem is not resolved

Now I tried to install Revit Structure 2011 - the same problem

Thank you, everything OK.
Second attempt was successful.
Not sure whether this is critical: Installation made from the original NFR DVD-distributiv,
not from Autodesk_Revit_Architecture_2011_Win_32-64bit.exe (from Subscription center)

i have the same issue.

I solved by deleting from the registry the keys that stored the size and position of that palettes.

Close REVIT if already open.

Open REGEDIT and go to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 2011\Components\Panels

And delete the  keys  with name "panel browser" and "properties".

That solved the issue for me. After REVIT restart, the panels shows now in the rigth position and size.

I'm under Windows 7, if you have different O.S. i guess that the key remains the same.

This is the screen of what you are after in REGEDIT...

REGEDIT Key

PSDTA: After deletion, i opened REVIT used and closed to double chck if the keys are restored in registry with correct values and there is no problem with that.

On close REVIT stores the key again this time with correct values.

Hope that this info helps.

Thanks a lot  borisquezadaa!

I just had this problem few days ago, with all my model screen turned white while you can't do a thing in it.

Thanks to you after settling inside REGEDIT as you mentioned and restarting Revit again, it all works fine!

Thanx again!

Thank you so much borisquezadaa... ! I don't know what I would have done without you!

This print screen finally made me understand what I had to do and this worked for me 100%.

My project browser is back ! 😄

I would not pass my semester without it !

Thanks a lot 🙂
