Preventing beams from attaching to one another

I'm using structural framing elements to model two 8' W x 18" DP continuous footings on the project I'm working on.

However, I'm having a problem with Revit trying to be a little too smart and connecting my beams when I want to keep them separate.

The image below shows a large continuous footing on the left, and the desired location for the second on the right.

However, if I try to create a footing in this location this is what happens.

Is there any way to keep these structural members from automatically connecting to one another?

Do they have the little blue dots at the end of the element to drag for changing their size? If so, right click on the blue dots and select Disallow Join.

It looks like this is only an options for walls, right clicking on the blue dot for beams does not shown an options for "Disallow Join"
