Plotting to a KIP from Revit Arch 2010

Anyone printing from Revit Arch 2010 to a KIP 5000?

It appears that since we upgraded to Revit Arch 2010 from Revit Arch 2009, images no longer pirnt out. I have sent my files over to KIP's product engineers and they are able to reproduce the same rsults on their end.

They are saying it is a problem with the software and not their printer drivers. I contact Autodesk support via the subscription center and their response was:

"I am sorry but you will need to contact KIP. Autodek does not have the specifications for their drivers and we do not control them. You are able to do everything on other plotters and from PDF. The bad link in the equation is the plotter."

As a work around we have been printing to PDF and sending the PDF to the KIP which works, but these extra steps are ridiculous and the Autodesk and KIP are just pointing the finger at one another.

Images in projects done in Revit Arch 2009 print out just fine.

Very frustrated so if anyone is able to provide any insite to this issue, its much appreciated.

Have you installed the updates for Revit Architecture 2010? Update 2 did
address some issues with TIF images. While Autodesk doesn't specifically
mention addressing your issue, they might have addressed it anyway. There
are usually things fixed in updates that aren't specifically mentioned in
the documentation.

The following link takes you to my blog where I list what was Autodesk
stated was addressed in Update 2:

Update 2 as well as the recent update 3 have been installed. Neither have resolved the issue. I have tried all suported image formats as well and no go.

You could try plotting via raster processing (a check box in the print
dialog). This will sometimes give different results especially when things
are not printing. Raster processing might be slightly slower and slightly
lower quality. Know if that works might help support narrow down the
problem for development to take a closer lok at what the issue might be.

I went down that road as well and did not change the output.

It sounds like the KIP driver is just not able to read the spooled output
file from Revit correctly for some reason. Sorry I don't have any
additional ideas.

Update 3? Where did you find that update? Autodesk only shows up to Update
2 on their website for Revit Architecture 2010.

Sorry, Update 2.

I had been having that same problem with the Kip7000, also using the PDF workaround for a while. In the Kip's properties under the print dialogue, make sure "output format" is set to "KIP Script", not "KIP GL" (see attached screencap). Worked for me, hope it works for you.
