Place a Group Instance in default position

I'm trying to place a group of room suites on a large floor plate.

When you Create an Instance, two concentric rectangles appear on the screen. I have to align my cross hairs (which move like they have a lead weight on them!) until it finds the origin - then I have to click and specify an offset.

This is all very onerous with the file size so is there a quick and accurate way to accept the default position and have a single instance placed?

Cheers

I have not found an option to place the group in the preview location.

I suspect that the slow movement you are seeing when you try to place the group is caused by calculations that Revit is making as it is determining elements that the group can snap to. Try going through the following steps to see if it makes placing the group at the group origin any faster:

  1. Open the project and go to the view where you want to place a group instance.
  2. Select a single small element and isolate the element (Shortcut: HI).
  3. Place the group instance.
  4. Reset the view (Shortcut: HR).

I accidentally discovered a method (worked for me). Please try this.

1. Go to any 3D view
2. Drag the Model Group you want to input and drop in on 3D view

3. Press 0 then Enter. (This will input 0 offset from the original position of model group.)

I hope it helps.
