Phases in Dependent Views

I want to create a phased project for the purpose of showing existing, demolition and proposed.

How do I set up my demolition view?

I tried creating a dependent view of my Ground Floor Plan and then changing the Phase settings of the duplicate to Show Demo, but this change applied to both the dependent duplicate view and the primary view. Is this not the appropriate way to do what I need to?

Cheers

There is no need to create a dependent view unless your plan is to large and
you want to break it up into pieces in order to show it at a larger scale on
a sheet. All you need to do is duplicate the view and change the phase
settings for that view only. This will not affect any other views.
