paul aubin and REVIT

I would like to hear what Paul has to say about REVIT. I know this will create a lot of controversy and people yelling, but worth a read anyways.

Sorry guys, but i just got to hear it.

You can find out by taking his Revit Class at Autodesk University.

It does not seem fair to Mr. Aubin to ask him to critique Revit in an ADT forum where his ADT book customers hang out. Perhaps you should pose the question in the Revit DG or contact him at www.paulaubin.com.

Hi gang:

What do I think of Revit Building? I like it. Some things I really like,
some things not so much. Overall, I like it.

Yes I am writing a book on Revit Building.

And yes, I will be teaching it at AU, one class, on the basics. I am
teaching three ADT classes as well.

Cheers.

agreed. this subject is so lame and overdone. if you can't figure out what program best suits your needs by now just stay on what you are already using.

Paul,
I'm only curisity, what do you think about koncept one building - one file
( REVIT). I have impression that when building start outcoming from 10
000 -15 000 m2, with dimensions and database, in one file, you simpy can't
work. Unfortunetly, I didnt try REVIT more then 500 m2, where it working
great.
I want youre opinion

To the moderator,
Not that this isn't an interesting thread but it seems like the Revit folks are so bored
with their newsgroup that they prefer posting here. Wouldn't this thread and the
many other recent ones like it be better on the Revit newsgroup? We know where
to go to read about Revit. Just a suggestion.

Regards,
Doug

We are doing very large projects in revit now, millions of square feet of hotels, casinos, retail, residential towers etc. This is NOT all done in one file, each building is its own file and all buildings are then linked into a master site model. Each individual building can be broken down further with worksets, so it is definately possible to do large projects in revit. Management becomes an issue, but no more so than managing the file structures in an autocad based large job.

Cyn (cdaniels, cjdtwn or whoever you really are)...grade school...and you are the bully who picks on nerdy Revit users because we're so lame?

The poor guy asks a simple question and the thread has to get moved and yelled at.

Since Paul Aubin IS writing a book about Revit it seems a natural question to wonder what he thinks about a product he's going to invest a significant portion of his time writing about? What does it mean when the ADT expert is now writing a book about Revit?

You resent Revit users reading and responding to threads about Revit in the ADT ng's. If someone started such a thread about your favorite ADT add-on in the Revit ng's I bet you'd be the first to leap in? In fact you are...in every one of them. All anyone has to do to get your opinion about the other product is mention Revit and Residential in the same post, or ADT for that matter. If it is okay for you...why not others?

If you'd like "us" to stay out of your ADT forum...perhaps you could avoid adding your tripe to discussions about Revit.

He is writing a book on both Revit and ADT... I dont understand why you
wouldnt take the mans experience and value and ask him about the 2. Maybe
ADT users will buy his Revit book too.

Steve,

I think you misunderstood. This thread was actually apparently moved from
the ADT newsgroup, which is where Cynthia originally replied to it. I think
the "Grade School" comment was, like mine, not in reference to Revit users
but the ongoing "My software is better than your software debate" that keeps
resurfacing in both places. And then the percieved attempt to drag Paul into
it because he is doing what any consultant who has to meet the demands of
his clients has to do - support both products.
