Parametric Equipment Schedules in Revit...

I've been scouring the internet trying to find out how to make a parametric Equipment Schedule in Revit.
It would look a lot like a regular Room Schedule,
but would automatically post the contents of the room.
(casement, plumbed fixtures, electrical, other.)
---------------------------------------------------------
When I put a component into a room - say casement, or a sink -
I need that component to "know" what room it is in,
other wise it can't report itself on the Equipment Schedule.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Alternatively, I at least need a room to "know" what is inside of it
in order for the room to report its contents to the Equipment Schedule.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Any idea how this is done in Revit?
Am I missing something obvious?
I appreciate any suggestions or advice you might be willing to share.

That would be a Multi-Category Schedule, with fields such as "family", "type", "category", including from the Rooms category, other fields such as "From Room: Name" , and/or "From: Room Number".  Then you filter the schedule(s) by category or by room, as needed.
