parameters and view scale

Is it possible to make a family parameter that can access the view scale in
which the family is placed?

And, I'm not into API.

The reason I ask is that I am making a framing family to represent a joist
with labels and annotation linework with arrowheads to represent the range
of repeat joists. I need to use a model family to get the instance shape
handles to graphically pick and move my annotation linework. It seems
annotation families do not allow this. Because it's a model family, I need
to adjust the linework and label positions with formulas based on the view
scale. Presently, I have to manually input the scale factor. I'm looking for
a way to automatically grab the view scale value.

Since the same model family can show up in multiple views, I don't think
this could be done as part of the family. I have used the new line-based
annotation to create annotations that can be graphically updated to span
joist bays.

Thanks for the response. OK, I see the logic problems with scaling to
different view scales.

About the new line-based annotation, where doed one find the template. I see
Generic Model Line Based and Detail Component line based templates but none
for annotations. I am using Revit Structure 4. Is this something in Revit
Building only?

I make nested family , annotation  one nested in detail family, the annotation family has two reference plan only and I want to catch the middle part and side part and no way to do that in easy way, so I decide  to catch the center and put dimension and use the formula

(half annotation dim * scale)

but no way to get the scale parameter

It is not clear to me what you exactly try to accomplish.

Maybe you can upload the family?

However within a family you can not access the scale of a view it is placed on.

If we better understand how your family is made and what you want to do, we maybe can offer you another approach.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

I've been working on a similar subject as the OP mentioned. Attached is the family I created, hope that readers in such a need can use and modify.
