Multiple Roofs on Same level?#1

Hi Guys
I have a model that now has 3 flat roofs on the same level (not connected)... every time I try drawing 3 seperate and distinct flat roofs I get an error message telling me that I can only have 1 roof per level.

Any suggestions or HELP???

TIA

They have to be separate sketches, so make one roof finish sketch, then repeat.

Nope same error message appears after I try and save the 2nd roof sketch and does allow me to save it.

That error means there are gaps in your sketch. Use trim to make sure the
corners clean up. You need one continuous sketch with no breaks or gaps.

Thus my problem... I need basically 3 lower roofs because I have a penthouse core raising above my total building foot print. If I can only use 1 roof per level then please explain how to create an opening in a roof to let my core building to excess my building height??

The message doesn't say one roof per level. You can have as many roofs on
each level that you want.

You can only have one sketch loop per roof. (...as sdbrown noted.) You're
screen shot shows two loops. However the error message you posted isn't
related to the fact that you have two loops. It is related to the issue that
you have one loop which is open as shown by the orange grips. (... as Scott
mentioned.) After you close the loop, you'll get a message that the sketch
defines more than one footprint - that message will be related to the two
loops.

So you have two unrelated errors with the sketch you are doing.

Guys
Don't worry about it. Found the answer to the problem.
FYI you can have just 1 Roof per level unless you have found some way to Break Revit.
Solution was to just draw a hole in the roof, that is allowed in Revit.

I can have as many roofs as I want per level just need to draw each one
separately, as others have already posted.

Our current project has at least a dozen roofs on the same level...

once again: as many roofs as you want are allowed per level. BUT, one roof
per sketch. Start roof, sketch shape, finish roof. Start new roof, sketch
shape, finish. Repeat.

Ok then the question I have to ask all of you then: Are any of you using Revit 2008? Because I have tried to sketch more than 1 roof on 1 level with NO SUCCESS. and have been told at another site that Revit 2008 WILL NOT ALLOW MORE THAN 1 ROOF PER LEVEL. So if you are using Revit 2008 and have achieved this "miracle" please explain to me how you did it?

There is obviously a communication breakdown somewhere in here. I'm not
using 2008, but know no reason why they would ditch this functionality from
9.1 and previous. Have you used 9.1 at all?
Post a screen shot of the message that you keep getting that says you can
only have one roof per level... I think we're having a tough time believing
without seeing. For some reason, I think you may be misunderstanding the
notion of SKETCH versus MODELING...
Just trying to help...
