Moving a column to stick it on the wall using snaps,

Moving a column to stick it on the wall using snaps,

 

I’m wondering why it is not easy just to move a column from an endpoint to another base point on the layers of a wall. What might be the best practices for this issue? I feel that the snapping system in the Revit is a bit weird!
