Move Section Marker

Is there a reason why a section marker would only be able to me moved in one direction?

be sure 'constrain' is not checked in the options bar.

'constrain' shows up on the options bar when 'move' is used. you want to
move something right?

Yes, I am trying to move something. A section marker. I didn't think to use the move command since you get that plus shaped 4 arrows icon thingy. I see the constrain now when I use the move command, but it's not checked and the section still won't move in any direction except for along the section. Let me see if I can get my computer to work so I can post some decent screenshots... I'm having memory issues.

Okay, I had to use paint so it's not the best. Can you see? It won't move in the direction that I'm trying to move it. It's like LOCKED to the same plane.

ANYONE have a clue about how to fix this? I have two sections like this. All of the other sections are fine.

This section/detail is the product of a callout being used in another view.
When you make a callout in an elevation or section view - it is linked to
that elevation or section's picture plane. The callout can produce symbology
in all perpendicular views. You'll have to create a new section in plan. Or
just rely on the callout for the reference symbol. Or move the picture plane
of the parent view.

Isn't the picture plane parallel with an elevation's marker? Wouldn't the picture plane be perpendicular to a section created within that elevation? So isn't a section placed in an elevation perpendicular to that elevation? If that's so then it seems that it would be locked along that plane and you would only be able to move the section marker within that elevation, which is also PERPENDICULAR to the section's own marker, or along the elevation's marker. That's the opposite of what is happening to me.

I tried moving the section in all 3 of the sections that the marker is placed in and it didn't work there either.

I tried repeating what you said and it didn't work the way you described.

I went to a section, and created a section within that section. Then I went to a plan view and was able to successfully move the new section marker in any direction that I wanted. It was not constrained.

But I do appreciate your time in trying to help me with this issue. Thank you.

So is this like a bug or a corruption or something?

Not a section within a section. But rather a callout within a section or
elevation. Callouts are parallel as I mentioned. You are correct that a
section in a section is unconstrained, but that isn't the issue here.

Go to the view in question. Right click and find refering view and find the
view showing the callout.

OOOOOh. (thanks for the file Aaron - VERY clear) you want to move a Callout
section tag? well that would be controlled by the 'blue line' elevation cut
plane.

move the 'blue line' and the Callout section tag will move perpendicular to
the respective callout.

Hah! Brilliant!

Hard to find that view. It wasn't a callout actually. It was actually a dependent view. I was able to move the parent view.

Thanks Aaron. You pointed me in the right direction.
