loading doors

Some help please.
I have been on Revit for about a week. i have successfully loaded doors, until i got to the "Curtain wall-store front-dbl.rfa"
first it told me it was already loaded, but it wasn't on the list. The next day I tried again. Same door, I hit load: this time the process seemed to work, but it just defaulted to the door I used previously. I first want to host the door with a curtain wall. I figured that may be the problem. so i tried the same door on a generic 6" wall, same thing: it seems to load, but just defaults to the previous door used. can anyone help?

The curtainwall door is used as a curtainwall panel. You don't place it like
a standard door. Rather you select a panel in the curtain wall and then
select from the type selector the curtain wall door.

Sorry, i didn't explain well enough. The curtain wall door won't load to the type selector. It doesn't come up as an option. i go to "door" under basic, load button, door folder, i select "curtain wall-store front-dbl.rfa" hit OK. i believe that once i hit OK the door selected becomes part of the type selector list. i have already created some custom doors and they loaded fine and loaded some overhead sectional door, with no prob. but the "curtain wall-store front-dbl.rfa door wont load.

Yes. My comments are correct. The curtain wall door does not come up in the
door type selector. It comes up in the curtain wall panel type selector.

You have to load it from File > Load from Library > Load Family

Since you are so new to Revit I suggest that you pick Paul Aubin's book
"Mastering Autodesk Revit Building" run through the exercises. Alot of the
things that you are trying to do will become clearer. It is available on
Amazon.com.

Happy Reviting!!!

You might have to "unpin" the panel before changing it to a different type. You may not have to load it again, because it is already loaded.
