The only way I managed to get them to work is by copying them into the
active file. You can use copy/monitor for that, and the live grid lines
will then be "tied" to the grids in the linked file. That will send you a
warning when either the linked grids or the live grids ever move.

I have 2 files one with floor plan information and the other with
grid/structural information. The Latter file has grid bubbles adjusted so
they appear without overlapping one another. I am trying to link the 2
files together, however when I link the structure file into the main file,
the grid lines revert back to their original position where the grid bubbles
overlap one another. Does anyone know how to link the revit file so it
retains the "bubble" location info from the structure revit file? Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks
