Line weights to heavy

I'm beginning to plot things out onmy first project and i'm noticing
lineweights are WAY WAY to heavy. I have some building sections that are at
1/4" and the "cut" lineweight is so heavy that the line work just runs
together and makes everything look extremely thick. Is there anything that
state at what scale a certain detail level should be used? Also is there a
way to globally scale down the line weights? It seems in general the
lineweights are to heavy in all my views, i like how they do step down in
sections and stuff but they are just to heavy. What is my best way to go
about controlling lineweights...???

Thanks everyone,
John Gray

Have you looked into Settings>Line Weights? This controls the thickness of
line "weights" 1 through 16, for every scale view, and for model objects,
annotatins, and perspective views.

The you use Object Styles to assign a Weight 1 to 16 to the individual
objects projection and cut styles.

So how many of you have had to go in and adjust what lineweight all the
object styles are using. OOTB everything seems to heavy.

I agree that the OTB pens are too heavy. I've based mine on the good old
rapidograph pens from days gone by....

It depends what printer you are printing to unfortunately. I have found OCE's print very light(at least from 9600 on) where HP designJets 1055 or 5000 Print very "fat". So you need to adjust them to your firms printing. I did adjust every slot when I was in an HP environment.

I wonder why there is not a better way to control lineweight. I too, have
noticed the problem with different plotters outputting different line
weights. When we send drawings to consultants, the plots look horrible. I
feel this is an issue that needs to be resolved.
