Keyword Problem

All typed in keyword/phrases go straight to Autodesk Help window instead.  For example...type in vg and instead of opening visability graphics, I get redirected to Autodesk Revit 2014 help window.  Same thing happens with all typed in commands.

Hello @Photi - when you go to your keyboard shortcuts what are you seeing? You can access them in you go to the View Tab> Windows Panel? User Interface pulldown>Kayboard shortcuts. this will open a dialog box. What are you seeing here?

Hi Lisa.

Thanks for your help.

When I open Keyboard shortcuts I can see which shortcuts have been set up
and their paths. For example VG for View>Graphics. I can access View
graphics in Properties by clicking on it. But whenever I type in the
shortcut VG in the keyword text box, I immediately get redirected to
Autodesk help. In fact no matter what phrase or abbreviation I type, I
always get redirected to Autodesk help. This wasn't always the case.
Early on the keyboard shortcuts worked. I was able to type VG or VP and
engage the command. I think I must have hit something that screwed things
up. But I can't figure out what I might have done.

Why am I being redirected to Autodesk help every time I type a word or a
phrase in the keyword text box? This is annoying and frustrating. Am I
the only person to ever encounter such a problem?

Thanks,

Foti

Unlike AutoCAD, Revit does not have a command line.  When the focus is on a view and you are not editing a text-type item, typing will be interpreted as a keyboard shortcut.

The edit box at the top (with the text Type a keyword or phrase in it) is the search for the Help.  If you are typing your keyboard shortcut there, you should expect it to search the Help, as that the purpose of that edit box.

Thank you David!  I was going nuts trying to figure out what I was doing wrong...and being a newbe to Revit, I just assumed that I had errantly hit something to change settings.  I was living proof of the adage "insanity is doing the same tthing over and over and expecting different results."  🙂

Thanks for noticing my issue.
