Invisible Lines

Can't seem to find any info on these.............BUT, I would think the
'Invisible Lines" are synonomys with ACAD's Defpoints..........you see them
on the screen, but they don't Plot. Am setting up Title Blocks for sheets,
and have lines that I labeled in the Family as Invisible for Consultant
areas, Guidelines, etc. But when I tested the DWF, they are plotting.
Help?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

What release are we talking here? I created a titleblock, used invisible lines and published to DWF and the lines where invisible - Revit 2009. Same for Revit 2008. Any release earlier and I would have to test it. I still have 8.0, 8.1, 9.0 & 9.1 on one test station.

Invisible lines should not be seen on screen, they are actually invisible, if you can see them on the screen they will print out.. sometimes a light colour line setting will not plot out but will be picked up on PDFs and DWFs.

No defpoints equivalent in Revit, not that i know of.

I think I know....when I created the dwf, I was still in the family
editor............that's when it (they) showed up and plotted........Then I
loaed into a test proj, and on screen and in dwf they were invisible.

Invisible lines are visible when creating families and working in a
titleblock template, however once loaded in the project they are invisible
accept for a ghost line that will appear when the cursor crosses over the
object to which it is attached. I use invisible lines in families when I
want an item that is above a cut plane to show up in plan view, just draw
the an invisible line from the bottom of the object down to the floor ref
line and once loaded in the project an asscoiated plan view will show up or
can also be used to show items in the reflected ceiling plan. If you use the
line tool in the project it will make an existing line invisible, which is
great for hiding a line that you do not want to see.

The closest thing to defpoints are reference planes, I use them all the time
as guidelines, they can be labeled in the properties view and when they are
clicked it states what the reference plane is. I guess they are similar to
construction lines in ACA/AutoCad. If you do not want them to print just
check the box on the print menu, which for me is standard.

Mike, Actually I was referring to reference planes not to be confused with
reference lines. Reference lines are similar in nature but I find I have
more flexibility with the planes.
