Importing Microstation V8 files

Is it possible to import Microstation V8 files into Revit Building 8.1? At
first glance it is not possible. The option of saving back or working in
DWG mode in microstaion is not an option unfortuently.

Since Bentley put so much marketing and engineering effort into making Microstation able to read dwg files "natively" I'm afraid support for dgn past Version J "died". Since Autodesk has owned Revit I'm not aware of any additional support for dgn and I've never heard a peep, rumors or otherwise, about reviving support for newer versions of dgn.

Sorry, the only route available to you IS to SaveAS to version 7/J or SaveAS to dwg/dxf...or possibly IFC. I don't know what Bentley is up to with IFC though.

How much work do you want to do?

If you are willing to take a few steps, install some software, keep
reading. Otherwise, disregard this message.

First, install Bentley's DGN viewer. Available as a free download from
their website (www.bentley.com)

Open the file and print to PDF.

You can use Ghostscript/Ghostview/pstoedit to convert PDF files

Download Ghostscript, GhostView and pstoedit all available here.
(http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/gsview/) Follow the directions for
installation for each program.


Then in GhostView open the PDF and convert it to DXF
