Importing 3D autocad into Revit—problem with “island objects”

Hello everyone,

I am abe to succesfully import an autocad file into Revit and I can even give different solids different materials based on the layer that they are in. This is great!

However, Revit does not seem to be able to handle “island objects”—objects inside other objects. (I'm not sure what to call them, but I think this is what they are referred to as in AutoCAD.) I did a crude MS Paint drawing of what I mean here. I also attached the CAD file (and amazing MS Paint drawing).

Does anyone know what I should do in order to get Revit to recognize island objects? Or should I just give up and import different files for each solid? Thank you very much in advance!
